Jeremiah Plan Transitional Housing

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

It all started when…

The Jeremiah Plan was started out of a need we see in the community to help families that are struggling to maintain stable and affordable housing.  Families will sign a lease for 12 months and while they are living in one of the homes, they will work with a financial coach to work on their budget, financing and achieve their goals for stable living; renting or owning.  We are blessed to have this project supported by:

The San Angelo Health Foundation

The King Foundation

First National Bank of Mertzon

Crockett National Bank

Texas State Bank

An Anonymous Donor

The Jeremiah Plan consists of 3 transitional homes to assist families on the verge of becoming homeless.

The homes were ready for occupancy the end of 2018.

Jeremiah Plan Transitional Housing

A growing area of need within the community is housing for people on the verge of becoming homeless, finding a temporary place to stay while they work on a permanent housing solution.  Our transitional housing program's main purpose is to provide a safe and stable place for families to live while fostering residential stability and promoting self-sufficiency and family preservation.  We want to help families that are on the verge of becoming homeless have a place to live for a designated length of time to get back on their feet and have a plan to find permanent living arrangements. This program is specifically geared toward preventing homelessness by housing those who have experienced a life event such as divorce, loss of job, or illness and are now on the verge of being homeless. Once accepted into the program, residents will start with a one year lease that may be extended up to eighteen months.  Staff will focus on stabilizing their financial foundation and prepare for transition to fair market housing or find other long term housing solutions. Galilee CDC has certified home buyer educators and financial coaching to help them with realistic goals.  We will collaborate with other organizations to provide them training and access to resources necessary to become successful. Each resident will be responsible for paying rent while they are staying in the home. Throughout the lease, they must remain current on their rent and demonstrate that they are attempting to improve their financial position.
